Answer On average, it takes about one hour by foot.

Question How can I get from Geku to Naiku?
Answer On weekdays, there are buses that run between Geku and Naiku every 15 minutes. On Saturdays and Sundays, buses run every 10 minutes. Bus rides between Geku and Naiku take about 15 minutes.

Question How long does it take to look around Geku and Naiku?
Answer Of course, the answer depends on your pace but in general, walking through Geku takes about 40 minutes and walking through Naiku takes about one hour.

Question I would like to visit a location to get a good view of the ocean. Where is the best place?
Answer You can get a beautiful view of Ise Bay and the Pacific Ocean in the Futami area. Similarly, there are beautiful ocean vantage points in Toba and Shima City to the south.

Question Are there any places to SCUBA dive in Ise City?
Answer No, there are no diving spots in Ise City however, there are diving facilities in Toba and Shima City.

Question How can I get to the top of the Ise Shima Skyline?
Answer Because there is no public transportation that runs to the top of Ise Shima Skyline, the best way to reach the top would be by taxi, rented car or by foot from JR Asama Station (a 5-hour, round-trip hike!).

Question How much does it cost to get to the top of Ise Shima Skyline by taxi?
Answer It would cost about 10,000 yen for a round-trip taxi ride.

Question How can I get to Goza Shirahama Beach?
Answer Perhaps the easiest way is to take a bus bound for Goza-minato (御座港) from JR/Kintetsu Iseshi Station or Kintetsu Ujiyamada Station bus terminal and exit at Goza Shirahama (御座白浜) bus stop. The one-way trip takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes, however, please note there are only six daily round trips between Ise City and Goza Shirahama (御座白浜) bus stop.

Question How do I ride a bus in Ise City?
Answer First, the bus entrance doors are in the middle of the busses, so enter the bus from the middle, not the front. Then, as you get on the bus, take a numbered ticket from your right. When you plan to exit the bus, find the fare amount on the electronic number board at the front of the bus (see the number on your ticket). Finally, pay the bus fare into the payment box located next to the bus driver and depart to your left.

Question Can I travel anywhere on the JR line for free if I have a Japan Rail Pass?
Answer Yes, as long as you are traveling on JR train lines, there are no additional fees. However, please note that passengers traveling from JR Nagoya Station to JR Iseshi Station have to pay a fee of 490 yen (one way) since JR trains travel on a private train line between JR Tsu Station and JR Kawarada Station on their route to Ise City.
Also, for your convenience, there are several recommended routes to travel around Ise Shima if you are using a Japan Rail Pass. Please visit this page (link) for details.

Question Are there any discount bus tickets?
Answer Yes, there is a one-day pass called Michikusa-kippu. It costs 1,000 yen and it allows riders unlimited bus travel in Ise, Futami and Toba. Travelers can also buy a two-day pass for 1,600 yen. Michikusa-kippu tickets can be purchased at the JR/Kintetsu Iseshi Station bus terminal, Kintetsu Ujiyamada Station bus terminal, at the Ise Tourist Information Office in front of Geku, and within any CAN-Bus (Please ask your driver for a Michikusa-kippu).

Question How can I get to Toba from Ise City?
Answer You can take the Kintetsu train line, the JR train line or a CAN-Bus. If you are taking a JR train or Kintetsu train, please exit at Toba Station. If you are taking a CAN-Bus, please exit at Toba Bus Center.

Question How can I get to Koyasan from Ise City?
Answer Take a Kintetsu train bound for Osaka Namba Station from either Kintetsu Iseshi Station or Ujiyamada Station and exit at Osaka Namba Station. Then, exit Osaka Namba Station via the East exit and follow the signs to Nankai Namba Station (11 minutes by foot). From Nankai Namba Station, take a direct line to Nankai Gokurakubashi Station. Finally, take a cable car from Nankai Station and it will take you to the GokurakubashiKoyasan area.

Answer Yes! Question How can I access the World Heritage Site of Kumano Kodo from Ise City?
Answer For those of you who wish to visit Kumano Kodo Center, there is a highway bus departing from JR/Kintetsu Matsusaka train station bound for the Kumano Kodo Center located in Owase City. The trip takes approximately two hours each way.

Answer Yes, there is one youth hostel in Futami called Taikoji. To get there, please take a CAN-Bus from JR/Kintetsu Iseshi Station or Kintetsu Ujiyamada Station and exit at Meotoiwa Higashiguchi bus stop. From there, Taikoji is a 15-minute walk. Please refer to MapE

Answer The least expensive facility is Taikoji Youth Hostel.

Question Are there any times during the year that I need to make reservations for accommodations?
Answer Yes, we recommend that travelers visiting Ise City during the Golden Week holiday (late April through the first and second week of May), the new year's holiday and all three-day weekends to make reservations in advance since it is difficult to find vacancies during those times.

Question Where and when can I exchange money?
Answer Near the Geku area, visitors can exchange money at Mitsubishi UFJ Bank and Mie Bank. Visitors near Kintetsu Ujiyamada Station can exchange money at Hyakugo Bank, Mizuho Bank and Daisan Bank. For locations, please refer to MapB. All banks are open from 9:00 to 15:00. They are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and National Holidays.

Question Are there any places to store my baggage while I am in Ise City?
Answer Yes. There are several options available for visitors.
There is a cloakroom available to visitors within JR Iseshi Station near the ticket office during business hours (400 Yen per bag).

Also, visitors can find coin-operated lockers at: JR/Kintetsu Iseshi Station, Kintetsu Ujiyamada Station and near Ujibashi Bridge at Naiku.

In addition, the following shops located on Geku Sando (the street that runs between JR/Kintetsu Iseshi Station and Geku) can keep your baggage for you during business hours for a fee of 200 yen per bag: Kikuichimonji (sword shop), Oyama Shinju (pearl jewelry shop) and Bud Palms (outdoor shop).

Question Is there anywhere I can access the Internet in Ise City?
