The Ise Ondo is the most famous folk song sung and danced to in a group or folk dance performed by a group in accompaniment to a folk song. This has been sung and danced by pilgrims to Ise Shrine. It's said Furuichi is the place of origin. Furuichi, together with Yoshiwara in Edo, Shinmachi in Osaka, Shimabara in Kyoto, and Maruyama in Nagasaki, was one of the most prosperous pleasure areas. Even now, Furuichi, as well as the well-known story of Aburaya Sodo is a topic of conversation.
